ABOUT
Julio Vaquero is an award-winning Spanish composer currently living in New York. Julio has developed his career as a writer for the stage. He has been involved in dozens of musical theatre productions as composer, orchestrator and musical director. His musicals have been performed in the major theatres of Madrid and off Broadway Theatres in New York. His work has been nominated several times, with Dumbo (2019) winning for best family musical in the Broadway World Awards.
Julio is very committed to the spread of acapella music, and has been musical director of groups such as Acapella Language, Voisix and Dimensión Vocal. He has also written the first acapella musical in Spain: The Little Mermaid.
He studied music composition in the Royal Music School of Madrid (Spain) and in the Chopin University in Warsaw (Poland), furthering his studies in Great Britain with Malcolm Singer and in Italy with Salvatore Sciarrino. He earned a MFA at NYU in Musical Theater Writing.
